New Kent High School wrestling squad captures seventh consecutive regional championship

New Kent High School’s Wrestling Team continues their dominance at the regional level.

New Kent won their seventh consecutive Group 3A Region A match in dominating fashion Saturday afternoon on their own floor.

The Trojans won eight divisions en route to the regional championship. Winners are Alex Cuic in the 106-pound division (Pinfall 2:42 over Jadyen Crotty of Tabb), Tristan Carter in the 113-pound division (Pinfall 0:29 over William Henderson of Tabb), Kyle Gibson in the 120-pound division (Pinfall 0:08 over Khamad Butts of Lake Taylor), Peyton McNamee in the 126-pound division (Pinfall 1:47 over Nick Turner of Tabb), Adam Ayala in the 132-pound division (Decision 8-5 over Gregory Campbell of Grafton), Noah Cuic in the 138-pound division (Pinfall 1:34 over Phenoix Patterson of Grafton), Noah Bentley in the 144-pound division (Pinfall 3:50 over Charles Noble of Grafton), and Quinn Morrison in the 150-pound division (Decision 9-2 over Joshua Ray of Heritage of Newport News).

Other place winners for the Trojans were Jason Bennett (second, 157-pound division), Jared Edeza (fourth, 165-pound division), Chase Wiles (second, 175-pound division), Cory Siebert (second, 215-pound division), and Pedro Williamson (second, 285-pound division).

“We did great, but the job is not finished,” said New Kent Head Coach Joe Salinetro.

New Kent accumulated 316 points, easily outdistancing themselves from Bay Rivers District opponents Tabb (190) and Grafton (175) who finished second and third, respectively.
