The growing pains for Charles City’s softball team continues as they dropped a May 2 Tidewater District contest to Mathews Lady Blue Devils.

The Lady Blue Devils scored seven runs in first inning as they rolled to the 22-2 victory during Charles City’s Senior Day celebration.

Charles City faced an uphill battle from the start and could not gain any ground on Mathews. After surrendering the first seven runs, Charles City punched one across the plate as Kaylee Stewart’s single drove home teammate Taniyah Williams.

But from that moment forward, Mathews added 15 more runs, as Charles City only was able to account for one more before the mercy rule was implemented.

The Lady Panthers fall to 1-9 on the season.
