New Kent’s Lady Trojans continue to round into postseason form, with the visiting Jamestown Lady Eagles being the next team to suffer a loss at the hands of the home team.

New Kent jumped out early and never relented in a 15-1 rout of the Lady Eagles in Friday afternoon’s Bay Rivers District contest.

Already leading 2-0 heading into the bottom of the second, Hannah Tober’s base hit drove home teammates Mariah Leonard and Sydney Eubank. Leah Round’s double brought home Tober to up the Lady Trojans’ advantage to 5-0.

Leading 8-0, Kenley Rowe’s bases-clearing triple added three more runs to the scoreboard for New Kent. New Kent added four more runs from that point forward. Meanwhile, New Kent’s Abbie Kegley struck out nine batters, only surrendering one hit in the contest.

After the contest, New Kent Lady Trojans’ Head Coach Maria Bates spoke about her team’s performance.

“Abbie pitched a gem,” she commented. “We are playing great and hitting great.

“We are piecing it together as we continue to execute for the bigger in-game moments,” Bates concluded.

New Kent improves to 13-2 on the season.
