Lady Trojans push forward to finish fourth at Bay Rivers District championships

New Kent’s Lady Trojans track and field team scored 75 points en route to finishing fourth at the Bay Rivers District Championship meet Tuesday afternoon.

The Lady Trojans earned four second place finishes as the top performances at the meet. Ryan Griffith earned silver in the high jump with a clearance of 4’10”, Ara Buchman placed second in the triple jump with a leap of 33’7¼”, and both the 4×400 and 4×800 relay teams finished as runners-up in those events with times of 4:13.37 and 10:34.94, respectively.

Warhill won the title with 146 points. Jamestown earned the silver with 107 points, while Lafayette garnered the bronze with 81 points.

On the boys’ side, New Kent put together a 43-point performance to finish seventh at the district championships.

Isaac Lamprecht and Will Ashley went one-two in the boys’ 3200-meter run. Lamprecht won the event with a time of 10:01.59, while Ashley finished just behind at 10:01.98. Ryan Wright also emerged as a winner, capturing the pole vault with a clearance of 15’0”.

Warhill also captured the boys’ title with 112.83 points. Lafayette placed second with 103.5 points, and Grafton finished third with 93.5 points.
