Grants to provide additional services from Heritage Public Library

Heritage Public Library will offer additional electronic resources for students and Wi-Fi access. Through CARES funding granted by the Institute of Museum and Library Services and the Library of Virginia, Heritage Public Library will add three online instruction resources and a new Wi-Fi location for free, high speed internet. TumbleBooks, TeenBookCloud, and Brianfuse are being added to the ‘e-library’ for students to access. Those services will allow online tutoring and other educational material. The community WiFi access location provided by the library will be at Cornerstone Thrift, 8921 Pocahonas Trail, Providence Forge. Access to the Wi-Fi will be accessible 24-7….

New Kent Rotary Club hosting coloring contest for World Polio Day

New Kent’s Rotary Club will be sponsoring a coloring contest for children to honor World Polio Day. In a partnership with Heritage Public Library, children can pick up three coloring sheets to enter a contest to win various prizes. The artwork will be displayed as part of New Kent Rotary Club’s mission to raise awareness of the childhood crippling disease. Sheets must be turned in by Oct. 24 and are available at Heritage Public Library. The winner will be announced on Oct. 30.
