Kim Turner, director of New Kent County Parks and Recreation, has been elected as President of the Virginia Recreation and Park Society (VRPS) by the organization’s board of directors. Turner fulfilled the VRPS term for Michael McCarty in 2014-15 and was subsequently voted for a three-year term. She currently serves as the organization’s vice-president and has held numerous roles within the group including being a board liaison to the Central Service Area and Legislative Committee. But when the threat of golf courses being shut down in New Kent arrived, one homeowner’s association elected to save the one in their area. Brickshire homeowners bonded to purchase the Brickshire Golf Club in 2017, after being on the market for more than one year.
