Letter to the Editor: Appalled by the amount of trash on Route 155 in Charles City

As a resident of Charles City County for 45 years, I have paid many taxes for which I do not receive any services. I think the trash on Route 155 and many other roads is deplorable. VDOT (Virginia’s Department of Transportation) just chops it up when cutting. I notice that Route 5 is clean and other county residents should be shown the same respect. It has gotten worse lately, so whoever is responsible for picking up litter should be held accountable. I have personally volunteered my time to pick up trash on my road for the last 30-plus years. Richard named to ODU’s Dean’s List

Sydney Richard, Charles City High School’s Class of 2016 valedictorian, has been named to the Dean’s List for the 2018 Spring semester at Old Dominion University. In order to earn the achievement, a student must be enrolled as a full-time student and accumulate a grade point average of 3.4 or higher.

Loftin named to Hampden-Sydney’s Dean’s List

Stewart graduates from Baylor University

Shelby Stewart, a Lanexa native, graduated from Baylor University during May 11-12 commencement ceremonies in Waco, Texas. Stewart earned a Bachelor of Business Administration with an emphasis in professional selling. Shelby was one of nearly 3,000 graduates who had degrees conferred during the ceremony.
