Driscoll, Burch named master agents

Frank Driscoll and Jeff Burch, both employees of the Charles City-James City-New Kent Farm Bureau in Providence Forge, were recognized as Master Agents at the annual sales conference in Roanoke. Driscoll has been an employees of Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance for 26 years, while Burch has spent 23 years with the group.

Sixteen honored at first annual Charles City Volunteerism award program

The definition of a volunteer is someone who takes time out of their day to help others by making a community better. While volunteers do not receive celebrity headlines or the hero title, Charles City’s First Annual Volunteer Recognition program made sure that the character of 16 individuals were recognized for their passion and love for their county. More than a hundred people attended the April 6 recognition ceremony held at the Charles City Parks and Recreation Center. Groundbreaking date for new Charles City Library announced

Groundbreaking for the Charles City Library will take place on Sunday, Apr. 29, 3 p.m. at the site. Adjacent to the Charles City Courthouse, the ceremony will take place in the field of the new location. In case of rain, the ceremony will be moved to the auditorium of the Charles City School Board and Government administration building. In November 2015, county citizens voted in favor of a referendum for the county to borrow no more than $2.5 million in funds for the construction of the standalone facility. Walter Crawley is one of the founders of RYCO whiskey, a beverage that has kept the dream alive for the 1980 graduate of Ruthville High School in Charles City.
