A New Kent woman is among one of the chartering members for the Central Virginia Chapter of the Top Ladies of Distinction. Sonja Hill was among 19 women inducted into the organization at the Nov. 18 induction ceremony. The Top Ladies of Distinction is a national, non-profit, humanitarian organization dedicated to enhancing and enriching lives of youth and adults through national and community-based programs. The Central Virginia area will cover areas of New Kent, Richmond, Henrico, and Petersburg.
As we enter the holiday season, let’s take time to actually celebrate spending time with the ones that we love. That is why it’s called Thanksgiving. But over the past years, the craze of Black Friday has ridiculously grown to a point where it is flat out annoying. Quin Rivers Community Action Agency, that serves Charles City and New Kent, is currently looking for representatives as part of expansion to their board of directors. Citizens will have the opportunity to represent low-income households. The representative does not need to be low-income himself or herself, but must be democratically nominated and elected by low-income individuals in the Quinton Service area.
