Hager initiated into National Leadership Honor Society

Benjamin Hager, a native of Quinton, was initiated into the Hampden-Sydney College Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society. Students who are selected to be inducted must be at least a sophomore in college, in the top 35 percent of their class, demonstrate leadership experience in at least one of the five pillars (collaboration, inclusivity, integrity, scholarship, and servitude), and embrace the ideals of the Omicron Delta Kappa society.

River’s Rest in Charles City reopens under new ownership

River’s Rest Marina and Resort in Charles City County is under new ownership. Blue Water and National Land Lease Capital (NLLC), based out of Maryland, took ownership of the property on Apr. 1, 2022. NLLC acquired the property in 2019 via a foreclosure auction and completed a renovation, expansion, and rezoning of the property. River’s Rest offers guests 126 seasonal RV sites and three tiny homes for visitors. Visitors can also stay at The Inn at River’s Rest on the 16.5-acre property. New Kent High School Fashion Club hosting second annual show

New Kent High School’s Fashion Club will host its second annual fashion show on Mar. 31 at 7 p.m. inside the high school’s auditorium. The show is presented in collaboration with the My Princess Project, a nonprofit organization that helps teenagers get a dress to wear to prom. New Kent Woman’s Club offering $1,000 scholarship

New Kent Woman’s Club is offering a scholarship to a graduating senior girl of New Kent High School. The scholarship will be awarded to a graduate of the Class of 2022. The scholarship amount is $1,000. Applications are available in the high school’s guidance office and are due back by Apr. 15.
