Three individuals were indicted by a grand jury during Tuesday morning proceedings in Charles City Circuit Court: –Anthony David English, 27, of the 11000 block of Greenyard Estates, Providence Forge, on two counts of petty larceny (third or subsequent offense). Richmond teenager arrested for stealing items from vehicles
A Richmond teenager has been arrested in relation to thefts in the Brickshire and Deer Lake neighborhoods of New Kent County. Michael Alexander Deane, 19, of the 2200 block of E. Cary Street, was taken into custody after being identified as a suspect of multiple thefts. In a press release from New Kent Sheriff’s Office, from June 21-27, several motor vehicles were entered without permission, with items removed from them. Pursuit in stolen car in New Kent leads to Hampton man’s arrest
A man who fled New Kent authorities on June 28 has been arrested on several charges that include grand theft auto. John Perlie Dawson Jr., 33, of 16 Kenneth Street, Hampton, was arrested by New Kent Sheriff’s Office after a pursuit that resulted in a crash. In a press release from New Kent Sheriff’s Office, a vehicle traveling on North Courthouse Road entered radar traveling 70 miles per hour in a posted 45 miles per hour zone. A Richmond man involved with a larceny at a convenience store in Bottoms Bridge on March 25 will serve three months in jail. Jermaile Aubrey Hicks, 34, of the 3300 block of Bunch Place, entered a guilty to plea to one count of grand larceny as part of a plea deal reached Monday afternoon in New Kent Circuit Court. Energy efficiency contract provides opportunity for repairs at Charles City schools
With facility repairs needed for a 27-year old building complex, Charles City Public Schools are working on an agreement to help their schools with the necessary upgrades to keep it functioning with its day-to-day operations. Victim dies in Interstate 64 car crash in New Kent
A crash on Interstate 64 in New Kent Monday evening has resulted in a fatality. According to a press release, Virginia State Police Troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 64 at the 205 mile marker (Bottoms Bridge) at approximately 6:42 p.m. The report says a Chevrolet Impala was traveling east in the left lane when a tree fell and struck the vehicle. The driver, Kevin Michael Bryant, 39, of Williamsburg, died at the scene. He was wearing his seatbelt. No further information about the accident is available at this time. The crash remains under investigation.
Conspiring to sell cocaine lands Lanexa woman year-and-a-half in jail
A Lanexa woman will spend a year-and-a-half in jail after receiving formal sentencing during Monday morning proceedings in New Kent Circuit Court. Lauren Nicole Mathias, 35, of the 3100 block of Augustus Lane, pled guilty during an earlier trial on April 20 on two counts of conspiracy to distribute cocaine and a single count of possession of ammunition by a convicted felon. During the April trial, evidence presented showed that Methias had made arrangements to sell cocaine and a possible weapon with ammunition to a confidential informant that totaled around $2,000. Providence Forge traffic stop turns into pursuit; suspect arrested by New Kent Sheriff’s Office
A high-speed pursuit that started in Providence Forge has led to the arrest of a Newport News man. Raymond Grimes, 29, of the 500 block of 13th Street, was arrested on a plethora of charges that stemmed from the June 20 chase. In a press release from New Kent Sheriff’s Office, around 3:15 p.m. a deputy conducted a traffic stop on the suspect’s vehicle stemming from a moving violation. Farnham man dies in Charles City vehicle accident
A June 15 crash in Charles City County has resulted in a fatality. Beechie Veney Jr., 72, of Farnham, died in a single vehicle crash on Roxbury Road (Route 106) near Warriner Road (Route 604). According to a Virginia State Police press release, at 12:41 p.m. a Virginia State Trooper responded to a call for service of an accident.
