Update: Victim identified in fatal Charles City shooting; suspect arrested
A shooting in Charles City early Saturday morning has left one person dead. According to a press release, Charles City County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call for service shortly after 2:30 a.m. on Nov. 9 to the 8400 block of Little Elam Road. When they arrived, they discovered a man with multiple gunshot wounds. The victim later died at the scene. The victim was identified as 38-year old James Seldon on Sunday morning. Henrico man to serve six months for stealing copper and tools in Charles City
A Henrico man will spend six months in jail after receiving formal sentencing during Nov. 7 proceedings in Charles City Circuit Court. Adam Garth Clements, 38, of the 300 block of Newbridge Road, received a 10-year sentence with nine years, six months suspended (six months to serve) as the result of a plea agreement reached on Mar. 5 of this year. He must also pay $900 in restitution. During Clements trial, the defendant worked for David Adams and stole copper wire and an extension ladder. Grand jury indicts Charles City man on alleged sex crimes with minor
A Charles City man who allegedly committed sex crimes against a minor was indicted during Nov. 7 proceedings in Charles City Circuit Court. Tyreek Darnell Bradley, 21, of the 4700 block of Barnetts Road, was indicted on two counts of carnal knowledge without force of a teenager age 13-14. According to the indictment, the defendant committed the acts on Aug. 23 and Aug. 31 of this year. Bradley also received an additional indictment stemming from an unrelated incident that took place on July 20. Road rage incident in New Kent results in guilty conviction for Williamsburg man
A road rage incident on Interstate 64 in New Kent has resulted in multiple guilty convictions for a Williamsburg man. Bernard Betrum Bethel, 28, of the 4900 block of Helen Potts Place, Williamsburg, was found guilty one charge each of throwing a projectile at a vehicle and misdemeanor driving without a license during a contested trial Monday in New Kent Circuit Court. Providence Forge, Charles City man killed in separate overnight accidents
A Charles City man and a Providence Forge man were killed in separate accidents with a two-hours span. According to a Virginia State Police report, on Nov. 1 at 2:40 a.m., officers responded to a single vehicle crash on Pocahontas Trail (Route 60) one-half mile west of King Boulevard in New Kent. A preliminary investigation reveals that a 2012 Toyata Tacoma driven by Jace T. New Kent Sheriff’s Office seeks information on attempted carjacking in Providence Forge
New Kent Sheriff’s Office is seeking information related to an attempted car jacking that left two people injured with gunshot wounds on Oct. 29. In a press release issued by New Kent Sheriff J. Joe McLaughlin Jr., an emergency call was made at 11:44 p.m. at the Forge Center in Providence Forge. The call reported that two victims had been shot by several males in what authorities are describing as an attempted carjacking.
