Ian Randolph Merritt, who was born on July 30, 1976, in Richmond, Virginia, was taken away too soon from us on May 4, 2023, in a car accident on Courthouse Road in New Kent. Ian was a kind and enthusiastic person, a lover of music and food (especially mushrooms), and a helper to any person in need. His friendships were deep and abiding, and his smile and laugh will be missed by all who knew him. Barbara Ann Tate, 83, of Quinton, Virginia, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, Apr. 29, 2023, surrounded by her family. Barbara loved growing flowers and vegetables. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She retired from New Kent County working in the cafeteria and driving school buses. Diane Bowles Fitzgerald, 72, of New Kent, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Apr. 13, 2023. She was lovingly known as “Mowie” to her grandchildren, as well as many family and friends. Diane’s favorite place was the beach, especially in the morning, to enjoy the sunlight glistening on the water. Thomas Lambert, 73, of Quinton, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, Apr. 4, 2023, at his home with his loving family by side. Thomas was born on Apr. 1, 1950 in New Orleans, Louisiana, as the beloved son of the late Albert Lambert Sr. and Alberta Dufrere Lambert. He later moved to Quinton, Virginia in 1987, where he spent the remainder of his life. Michael Edward Minter, 75, of Quinton, Virginia, passed away on March 7, 2023. He was a proud Navy Veteran who served on the U.S.S. Tinosa (submarine service) during the Cold War. Michael graduated from the University of Richmond in 1970. He was a member of Providence Forge Presbyterian Church and a volunteer for the Providence Forge Rescue Squad for many years. He was a steel fabricator and spent over 50 years in the trade.
