Allen garners first team conference, region collegiate volleyball honors

Karley Allen, a former New Kent standout and current women’s volleyball player at UVA-Wise, has repeated as a first team selection to the All-Mountain East Conference team. Allen, a junior, registered 535 kills, 1,549 total attacks, 43 aces, and 495 digs for the season. Her average of 4.31 kills per set rates her fourth nationally in NCAA Division II, while her 12.49 attacks per set rates her seventh. Running their flex offense to perfection, New Kent’s Trojans built a comfortable first half lead at the expense of York’s invading Falcons. The hosts then withstood a York comeback after intermission to go on to a 67-48 victory in Wednesday night’s basketball opener for both.
