Behind the performance from juniors Nevaeh Coney, Janiya Washington, and Surayyah Tinsley, the trio of Lady Panthers powered Charles City to a third-place finish overall among seven teams on their home track. After a fast start to the season, New Kent’s Lady Trojans have struggled in the final games of the season on the pitch. On Monday night, too many lapses on brought the Lady Trojans’ sent the hosts back into the wrong column. The visiting Warhill Lady Lions spoiled Senior Night for the hosts, taking down New Kent 3-1 in the Bay Rivers District contest. Pulling off an upset in any sport requires preparation, determination, and a little bit of luck. Unfortunately for New Kent’s boys’ soccer team, a May 11 visit from highly ranked Tabb proved that getting all three can be difficult. Tabb’s visiting Tigers jumped out to an early lead before withstanding a late Trojans’ charge in clinching a 6-2 victory. New Kent’s dismal first half factored into an early deficit.
