Heylinger joins Charles City Regional Health Services

Charles City Regional Health Services welcomes new licensed clinical psychologist Dr. Renee Heyliger. Heyliger received her undergrad degree from the University of California in Davis and Doctorate of Psychology form the California Psychology. She previously worked at Hopewell-Prince George Community Health Center. Heyliger has 15 years of experience as a licensed clinical psychologist and offers services that include individual, couples, family, and group therapy. She also provides treatment for mood, anxiety, and adjustment disorders. Charles City Regional Health Services is part of Central Virginia Health Services. Letter to the Editor: Endorses McPhail for New Kent Circuit Court Clerk

Having supervised all three candidates for the New Kent Circuit Court Clerk’s position, my endorsement is for Scott McPhail. I am familiar with the strengths and weaknesses of each and think that Scott is the best candidate. The clerk’s office has three distinct areas of responsibility: land records, probate, and court administration. Scott excels with the land records, is the only employee I have had who has taken to probate matters, and meets all needs of court administration that he encounters. I have had the pleasure of working with my county supervisor Ron Stiers on several community concerns. The most recent was an abandoned house down the road from me. It had remained empty and partially burned for quite some time. After speaking with neighbors, we decided it was time to call Ron. I explained to him that this house had become a concern to our neighborhood, not only for the unsightliness, but also because of the possible health hazard. Letter to the Editor: Says Stiers’ actions merit vote for supervisor

I was the president of Woodhaven Shores Property Owners Association in Oct. 2011 when a tornado ripped through our area. The tornado devastated our neighborhood, blocking roads and turning our lives upside down. A resident of Woodhaven informed me Ron Stiers’ reputation for community service. I called Ron, who wasn’t even a New Kent supervisor at the time, jumped into action and set up “Operation Love Thy Neighbor.” He secured the volunteer services of local, heavy equipment contractors and with the help of local residents and other community groups, we began massive clean-up. She started in 2007 as deputy treasurer and started classes to achieve the Certified Master Governmental Deputy Treasurer certification.
