Gammon graduates from Longwood University

William Davis Gammon, a resident of Providence Forge, graduated cum laude from Longwood University on May 14. Gammon earned a Bachelor of Arts in history with a minor in political science. He was one of four seniors to complete the Senior Honors research project. He is currently employed in the office of the president at Longwood University as a Presidential Fellow. William is the son of Bill and Donna Gammon of Providence Forge.

CCRHS to celebrate National Health Center Week

Charles City Regional Health Services (CCRHS) will celebrate National Health Center Week on Aug. 11, 3-5 p.m. at the health center, located at 9950 Courthouse Road. As part of the 45th birthday celebration, the health center will offer free health screenings, raffle school supplies, face painting, and more activities to the community. CCRHS is part of Central Virginia Health Services (CVHS), a non-profit community health center. For more information on National Health Center Week, visit www.healthcenterweek.org.

Local students recognized for academic achievement by JTCC

Several residents from Charles City and New Kent have been announced to the honors and dean’s list for the Spring 2016 semester at John Tyler Community College. Named to the honor’s list are Samantha Chapman, Lena Duke, Michael Doan, Cecilia Garner, Casey Rapalee, Kaylin Seely, and John Sweat. Elizabeth Donavan earned Dean’s List recognition. To be named to the honor’s list, students must have completed at least 24 credit hours and achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 or higher. Black earns honors at Mary Baldwin College

Abigail Black, a Charles City resident and rising sophomore at Mary Baldwin College, was named to the school’s Honor’s List for the Spring 2016 semester. In order to be named to the list, a student must accumulate a grade-point average of 3.75 or higher while taking at least 12 hours of classes. She is the daughter of Michelle and Randy Black.

Local residents complete graduation requirements at Rappahannock Community College

Several Charles City and New Kent residents were among the 596 students who earned degrees and certificates during the 44th commencement of Rappahannock Community College on May 13. Graduates honored during the ceremony were those who completed the required courses and classes during Summer 2015 semester, Fall 2015 semester, or Spring 2016 semester.
