Kelley named new director of Heritage Public Library

Jesse Kelley has been named as the new library director for Heritage Public Library. Kelley had previously worked a programming coordinator at Chesterfield County Public Library. He will secede Kendra Mathis, who is retiring at the end of February. “We’re excited to see where Jesse will lead the library,” Mathis said in a press release. “Jesse brings a great deal of experience with programming and building relationships with local organizations,” said Lelia McKee, chair of Heritage Public Library’s Board of Trustees. Liverman earns Doctorate Degree from Northern Colorado

A Providence Forge resident recently completed her Doctorate degree from the University of Northern Colorado. Wendi Liverman earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing Education as part of Fall 2022 commencement ceremonies.

Four locals graduate from James Madison University

Four local residents recently completed their studies at James Madison University and were recognized during Dec. 2022 commencement ceremonies. Matthew Giewont and Hanna Giewont, both of Quinton, and Shawn Holland and Haley Holland, both of Providence Forge, earned degrees from the university. Both Hanna and Matthew Giewont earned a Bachelor of Science in Media Arts and Design. Shawn and Haley Holland both earned Bachelor of Science degrees in Health Sciences.

Grant from Henrico Area Mental Health to assist families in Charles City and New Kent

Henrico Area Mental Health and Developmental Services has been awarded a $34,000 grant to assist families in Charles City and New Kent. The grant will be used to address pregnant and parenting women who have substance use disorder. Funding will specifically be used for providing training to medical and social service providers to help identify those who are struggling with disorders, how to refer them, and providing them with education on the type of services available.

Bridge repairs on Wayside Road in Charles City rescheduled to Feb. 6

The bridge over West Run creek on Wayside Road in Charles City will be closed for a week for bridge rail repair work. Starting Monday, Feb. 6, the bridge will be closed until Friday, Feb. 10, as repairs for the bridge will take place. The following detour will be in place: –Northbound Wayside Road (Rt. 607): Take Barnetts Road (Rt. 609) to W. Run Road (Rt. 625) west to Kimages Road (Rt. 658) west back to Wayside Road. –Southbound Wayside Road (Rt. 607): Take Kimages Road east to West Run Road east to Barnetts Road north back to Wayside Road….
