New Kent Lions Club will collect soft plastic in the month of November. Collections will take place at the Food Lion Shopping Center, with the plastic being used to construct benches to donate to the community. Collections will not take place from December to February. Bay Transit will offer citizens of Charles City and New Kent free rides to the polls on Election Day. On Nov. 8 from 6 a.m.-7 p.m., the agency will provide transportation for residents who need assistance getting to the polls. To schedule a ride, call 877-869-6046 by Oct. 28 to make a reservation. The Chickahominy Health District will be partnering with several local community partners to kick off the New Kent County Community Health Improvement Planning (CHIP) on Tuesday, Oct. 25.
