Two men were formally indicted by a grand jury during Tuesday morning proceedings in Charles City Circuit Court: –Dallis Leno Wallace Jr., 48, of the 7800 block of Lewis Tyler Lane, Charles City, on one count of construction fraud. Wallace allegedly received $9,500 to do repair work on a home on Wayside Road around Dec. 25, 2015 but did not perform the task. –Jared Edward Woodley, 23, of the 7400 block of Courthouse Road, Providence Forge, on one count of malicious wounding. Woodley allegedly stabbed another man during an altercation on July 7.
At the regular November meeting of Charles City’s Board of Supervisors, family and relatives of the late Iona W. Adkins submitted a letter requesting the naming of Charles City Courthouse after her. At the December meeting, county leaders voted unanimously to honor the family’s wishes. County leaders agreed to name the building after Adkins at the Dec. 27 meeting. A Providence Forge man has died as the result of a single vehicle crash Saturday night (Dec. 17) in Charles City. Kennedy O. Greene, 21, died at the scene of an accident on Route 155 (Courthouse Road) near the intersection of Green Oak Road. According to Sgt. New Kent supervisors took nearly an hour in mulling over a recommendation to amend the classification of minor and major subdivisions and increase the minimum growth area for open space or cluster subdivisions. Charles City’s Board of Supervisors will hold a town hall meeting to address broadband in the county on Dec. 14. District 2 representative Bill Coada pitched the meeting to board colleagues at the Nov. 22 regular meet to provide an update and take questions from county citizens at the upcoming meeting. According to Coada, some businesses inside Roxbury Industrial Park have received the high-speed internet service through direct connections through broadband.
