Branch emerges as lone event winner at New Kent home track competition

New Kent’s Ellis Branch emerged as the lone event winner as the Trojans hosted a Bay Rivers District track meet on Mar. 28. Branch captured the top spot in the boys’ triple jump, leaping 41’9¾” for the win, besting the next closest competitor by more than a foot-and-a-half. New Kent’s boys’ team finished with 47.33 points, good enough for eighth place at the meet. On the girls’ side, New Kent accumulated 11.5 points, finishing in tenth place at the competition. Battles on the pitch in the Bay Rivers District often carry intensity and drama that often sees someone step up to make that different. English accounts for lone point for Panthers at Charles City Invitational

Ashton English emerged as the top performer for the Panthers at their annual Charles City Invitational held Saturday. English was the only scorer for the Panthers, notching a point with an eighth-place finish in the boys’ shot with a toss of 37’5”. Charles City Lady Panthers shut out by Essex in home opener

Charles City’s Lady Panthers home opener on Friday afternoon boasted a roster with seven returning players that hopes to be a firm foundation for the team’s future. But despite having that plethora of experience, Essex’s Lady Trojans wasn’t taking the bait.
