After the Goochland holiday tournament, New Kent Trojans Head Coach Garrett Ross challenged his team to be better on the defensive end. Challenge accepted. Behind an aggressive trapping defense and minimizing shot attempts, New Kent cruised to a 74-38 victory over the Warhill Lions in the Jan. 9 Monday night contest. New Kent High wrestler Jordon wins 145-pound division at Trojan Wars in Pennsylvania

New Kent High School’s wrestling placed eighth overall in the Trojan Wars at Chambersburg High School in Pennsylvania on Dec. 29-30. Patrick Jordon emerged as a champion in the event in the 145-pound division, winning his match by a 5-3 decision over Mike Pizzuto of South Carroll High School in Maryland, who was undefeated at the time. Trace Ragland finished as runner-up in the 133-pound division, falling to Skyline High School’s Phoenix Aylea via decision (10-4). After a setback in the opening round of the Goochland Holiday Invitational, New Kent’s Trojans looked to come out of the tournament with at least one win.
