New Kent’s Lady Trojans continue to click at the right time. A Tuesday night matchup hosting rival Tabb’s Lady Tigers kept the needle moving in the right direction. Behind a pair of 20-point performances from McKenna Mueller and Katelyn Norman, New Kent rolled toa 64-29 over their Bay Rivers District Rival. New Kent jumped out early with a 6-0 run to kick off the contest. Hyndshaw’s jumper added to that advantage as the Lady Trojans’ defense held Tabb without a basket from the field before Lena Shandor’s conversion. However, by that time, New Kent had upped its advantage to 10…

Charles City’s Panthers have continued to fight in every game on the hardwood this year despite their numerous disadvantages. In Friday night’s contest against the visiting King William Cavaliers, the size and athleticism of the visitors proved too much for the hosts to handle. With a line-up that boasted three players at least 6’3” or taller and speed at the guard position, King William jumped out on early and coasted to a 77-31 victory over Charles City. The visitors used a modified man-to-man press against the Panthers, trapping them and forcing turnovers to jump out to a 10-0 run. After…

Charles City High School’s boys’ basketball schedule wouldn’t be easy for anybody, let alone a smaller, more inexperienced team. Playing their fourth game in four days and facing their second top ten team in the state in the West Point Pointers, the hosting Panthers found themselves down 27 before their first field goal dropped as they fell 71-27 to the visiting West Point Pointers. After Charles City stopped the Pointers on their initial possession, an inbounds play saw 6’8” Cade McCulloch dunk the ball with ease for the visitors. From there, West Point reeled off 25 more points before Charles…
