Positive test shuts down horse racing at Colonial Downs for season

Horse racing at Colonial Downs has been cancelled for the remainder of the season after a jockey tested positive for COVID-19. Colonial Downs shifts to spectator-free racing for 2020 season

Colonial Downs Group, a subsidiary of Peninsula Pacific Entertainment, has announced that it will not allow spectators on the grounds for horse-racing for the 2020 race season. Horse racing returning to Colonial Downs on July 27

Colonial Downs has announced the return of live horse racing beginning July 27. The new season at the track in New Kent will feature an 18-day race schedule. Races will be conducted Monday-Wednesday, with post times beginning at 5:30 p.m. The premiere race, the Virginia Derby, will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 1. Spectators will be allowed to attend the horse races under guidelines imposed by the order of Governor Ralph Northam. A maximum of 1,000 people will be allowed to spectate the race.
