Rachel Rogers, a Providence Forge resident and senior athlete at Sweet Briar College, was named to the NFHCA Division III National Academic squad. Rogers is a member of Sweet Briar’s field hockey team. She maintained a minimum grade-point average of 3.3 and competed in athletics at the Division III level to earn the academic recognition.

In a game that consisted of two halves, New Kent’s boys’ soccer team fell behind 3-1 in the first half to the visiting Colonial Heights’ Colonials. Entering year three, Charles City’s soccer program is looking to take the next step, transitioning from an exhibition squad to a competitive team. And while Monday afternoon’s contest against Tidewater District favorite Mathews’ Blue Devils didn’t result in a win, it didn’t deter the Panthers’ spirit either. New Kent’s boys’ track and field team were edged for the team title at Charles City’s Invitational meet last Saturday. The Trojans scored 71 points to finish runner-up at the meet, being edged by Clover Hill who took the title with 76 points. Thomas Dale rounded up the top three with 67 points.
