Letter to the Editor: Charles City roads are too trashy

By Community Member | June 25, 2018 7:15 pm

As a resident of Charles City County, I couldn’t agree more with the assessment of the horrendous amount of trash on the roads. I drive all over Central Virginia for my work and while trash is a problem everywhere, I don’t see it to the level we have in Charles City. I love Charles City, but I can’t understand why people litter like this. It has gotten worse lately, so whoever is responsible for picking up litter should be held accountable. I have personally volunteered my time to pick up trash on my road for the last 30-plus years. Surely…

Editorial: It’s okay to ask for help

By Andre Jones | June 20, 2018 1:32 am

It’s okay to ask for help. Unfortunately, people tend not to do so. Asking for assistance has been a troublesome issue for several years. Some people refuse help because they are too prideful. Others refuse it because they believe they can complete a task on their own. In a lot of cases, people don’t understand that help is to motivate and push your forward in a positive direction, not backwards. One of the more common needs for help is dealing with issues surrounding beating addictions. Whether it’s drugs, alcohol, sex, gambling, or video games, what starts off as a way…
