Virginia Natural Gas, through the Southern Gas Company Foundation, announced the donation of $20,000 to Thrive Virginia. Thrive Virginia serves local communities through contributions to support the well being of families. Virginia Natural Gas operates an office in New Kent and was part of the contribution process.

Tyler Holder, a resident of New Kent, was initiated into the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. Membership into the society is given to students in the top 10 percent of the senior class or top 7.5 percent of the junior class at the collegiate level. Holder was initiated at Virginia Commonwealth University.

Two local residents were inducted into the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society during a recent ceremony for their academic disciplines. Julia Clarke of Charles City and Matthew Rembold of Quinton were presented with the prestigious honor. Both are currently students at Virginia Commonwealth University.

Morlon Bell-Izzard, a native of Charles City County, has been named as the Chief Customer Officer of Pepco Holdings. Bell-Izzard’s primary responsibility will be to advance the effort to deliver world-class experiences for the company’s customers in Delaware, the District of Columbia, New Jersey, and Maryland. She will now assume overall leadership responsibilities for the company’s customer strategic governance and planning, including the overseeing of financial planning, technology initiatives, and reviewing customer service data analytics.
We are now in November. Thanksgiving and Christmas and ultimately the new year are drawing closer.
