Sandra Langdon Jakubcik, of New Kent, VA, passed away on Nov. 15, 2018. She attended Princess Ann High School in Virginia Beach and graduated from Leigh Memorial Hospital in Norfolk as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She lived in Reston, VA for many years as well as Stuart, FL, and Newport News, VA. She was certified as a Master Gardener by the VCE and was an active member of the New Kent Quilters and the Lions Club. Andrea Sue Kamits, 66, of Charles City, VA, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2018. Andrea loved to fish, garden, and spend time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Doris Lockwood. Andrea is survived by her husband of 47 years, Mike Kamits; her son and his wife, Timothy Michael Kamits (Lyndsey). Barbara Ann Barneycastle, 80, of Providence Forge, VA, passed away Sunday, October 14, 2018. She loved playing bingo, poker, and spending time with her family and friends. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Billy Gray Barneycastle. Norman D. Thomsen, 91, of Sun City, Arizona, died Aug. 16, 2018, after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Norman was born Feb. 18, 1927, to Christian and Emma (Sorenson) Thomsen on his family’s farm in Brookings County, South Dakota. He attended a rural elementary school and completed high school in Brookings. He served in the U.S. Navy during World Ward II at the San Diego Naval Base in California, achieving the rank of Seaman Second Class. Frederick Griffith Bahr, a New Kent County Board of Supervisor member from 1996-2000, passed away peacefully at his home in Lanexa, VA, on Sept. 12, 2018 after a six-month battle with cancer. Frederick was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Mary Fairfax Griffith of Warsaw, Virginia, and Frederick Charles Bahr, of New York City. The family moved to Detroit, Michigan, in 1933.
