Marilyn Reach Layman, 80, of Hanover, Virginia, passed away on Friday, June 16, 2023. Marilyn was a graduate of Virginia Intermont College in Bristol, Virginia, where she earned her Nursing degree. She was also a member of First Christian Church in Big Stone Gap, Virginia, and a cheerleader at Powell Valley High School in Big Stone Gap, Virginia. Marilyn was a retired labor and delivery registered nurse at Henrico Doctor’s Hospital-Forest, and previously served as a cardiac technician with the Providence Forge Volunteer Rescue Squad. She was born to Frances Payne and the late James Rowe of Newport News and was the oldest of her four sisters. Brenda was a dedicated homemaker and an incredible cook. A Dallas Cowboys and New England Patriots fan, she enjoyed the simple things in life. Mary leaves to cherish her loving memory her sons, Robert Green (Gail), C. Anthony Green (Michelle), and Conrad Green; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; brother, Glenn Osborne Jr.; and a host of other relatives and friends. Paulette Tharrington Perkinson, of Lanexa, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Easter Sunday on April 9, 2023. Paulette retired from Colonial Williamsburg where she worked as a seamstress from 1986-1999 and started her second career, working from Verizon from 2000-2017 as a facility administrator before retiring. Paulette loved her family and friends. She was noted for her famous Pumpkin Roll, potato salad, and cookies she made every holiday.
