Charles City’s Co-Ed soccer team struggled against a high-powered offense in West Point’s visiting Pointers Monday afternoon. Charles City played evenly with the guests for the first ten minutes of the game, but the Pointers scored three goals in four minutes before finishing the first half with a 7-0 lead. West Point added three more in the second half to cruise to a 10-0 victory over the Panthers. Panthers earn third place finish at home meet
Troy Crawley emerged as the lone individual event winner for host Charles City as they claimed third place during an Apr. 19 six-team meet. Crawley claimed the top spot in the boys 100-meter dash, clocking a time of 11.85 to win the event for the Panthers. Charles City scored 74 points, trailing meet winner Mathews (179) and runner-up Cape Henry Collegiate (122). Rappahannock (50), Richmond Christian (40), and Grove Christian wrapped up the scoring. Since Charles City’s baseball team returned from spring break, Panther head coach Demetric Leeper has focused on teaching his team about special situations in a game that may swing momentum. Apparently, his team paid attention. New Kent’s host Trojans scored 100 points to finish second overall as all 10 Bay Rivers District schools got together Wednesday afternoon for track and field.
