Mason Jefferson won two events and joined in with teammates Marvin Brown, Jaquane Wyatt, and Kyle Jones as part of the 4×100 relay team as he helped lead Charles City to a second place finish during an Apr. 2 track meet. Charles City scored 77 points, finishing behind Mathews’ 111.75 points and ahead of Rappahannock’s 33 and Richmond Christian’s 20.25. New Kent pitcher Destiny Eberhard limited Poquoson’s visiting Islanders to four hits, and the Lady Trojan offense did the rest for an 8-0 softball shutout Thursday afternoon. In his 14 years at the helm of New Kent High School’s wrestling program, Mike Faus has built a perennial contender at all levels of competition. And now he is being honored for his efforts. Strong afternoon winds did not blow in New Kent’s favor either on the softball or baseball diamonds in Tuesday’s clash with Smithfield’s visiting Packers.
