Middlesex uses experience to take down Lady Panthers 15-1
Charles City’s Lady Panthers’ softball team is learning a lesson that while they are having a good season so far, getting through the Tidewater District is still a daunting task. Charles City fell 15-1 to the visiting Middlesex Lady Chargers in Tuesday afternoon action. Middlesex punched onto the scoreboard in the first, and began to add more in the top of the second. New Kent finishes in 1-1 tie with Grafton in boys’ soccer match
After a strong season start, New Kent boys’ soccer team had to deal with the injury bug as they had to make adjustments throughout the season. Monday night’s Bay Rivers District contest against the visiting Grafton Clippers showed them that they are learning to deal with adversity. After 80 minutes of regulation time and 10 minutes of overtime, New Kent tied Grafton 1-1 in a competitive contest. Nansemond River’s defense stifles New Kent in non-district affair
New Kent’s Lady Trojans bid on the pitch for win number 10 ran into a roadblock Friday night. The visiting Nansemond River Lady Warriors jumped out to a three-goal lead and never looked back as they defeated New Kent 3-1 in the May 8 non-district contest. Nansemond River dominated the onset of the contest, scoring moments into the contest for a 1-0 lead. Behind a first half hat trick, New Kent’s boys’ soccer team returned to the win column Monday night. New Kent’s Diego Jimenez notched three goals in the first half, while teammates Mason Phaup and Grayson Yates each added a pair of their own as the Trojans coasted to a 10-2 non-district victory over the visiting Middlesex Chargers. After falling behind 6-1 early in their Apr. 28 contest against the visiting West Point Lady Pointers, Chrles City’s Lady Panthers would be tested to see if they could battle back from adversity. For six innings, New Kent’s Lady Trojans looked to keep their long, homestanding win streak intact as they led the Poquoson Lady Islanders 3-1.
