New Kent Sheriff’s Office is partnering with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) as part of Operation Crash Reduction. From Oct. 9-12, the regional effort is being emphasized to express the importance of safety during the holiday weekends and the importance of seat belt use and other safe driving. The first Presidential Debate was something fit for a Saturday Night Live skit that either had you laughing out loud or scared to your core. We are in times where we do not know if we will be shut down again because of the coronavirus. And here today, we have these two 70-plus year old men acting like complete fools on a debate floor. Former Vice President Joe Biden was out there throwing numbers that had your mind searching for the truth, and we have President Donald Trump who loved interrupting in a disruptive way who could not denounce white…

Our nation’s history is a source of fascination and inspiration to me. The more I study the people, events, and miraculous occurrence that shaped our past, the more I realize that America is exceptional! Events of the last several months have left me brokenhearted. Tunnel vision narratives that have distorted our nation’s heritage and villainized many of our country’s greatest leaders by focusing solely on their faults. This has contributed to many vitriolic and destructive rampages throughout our country. Mobs have sought to demolish monuments and eradicate references honoring the same people whom I firmly recognize and humbly revere as…

Can you believe its been six months since the COVID-19 pandemic began here in the United States? Well, I could continue to talk about that, but I think I am going to turn my focus on what type of activities we can do to keep ourselves active. Normally, transitioning from Summer to Fall in New Kent and Charles City would result in a lot of community activities. However, there are no county fairs, Chickahominy Pow Wow, and Shrimp Feast for this year. Fall Festivals are up in the air when it comes to activities to do as well. But as…

The pandemic has simply changed the way we do things in this country. We have faced more people who are dealing with depression and suicides. As we transition into the time of year that revolves around holidays and culture, it is important that we think about those people who are suffering with those thoughts, especially with depression. From a study I read from the American Foundation of Suicide Prevention, in 2018 suicide was the tenth leading cause of death in the United States. More than 48,000 people claimed their own life out of an estimated 1.4 million attempts. We have…

If I may have your attention please, we have a cure for this Coronavirus. If pastors, deacons, associates, and other members of each church would set aside one day a week for prayer service, we could end COVID-19. Matthew 18:30 states, “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I, in the presence of them.” We are asking the Lord to take out this Coronavirus and cast it into hellfire to dissipate. If one can put out one thousand to flight, two can put ten thousand to flight. If the United States and countries all…
