New Kent Envirothon returns Apr. 22

After a one year hiatus, the New Kent Envirothon will return on Saturday, Apr. 22. In conjunction with the New Kent Virginia Cooperative Extension Office, New Kent Clean County Committee, Alliance of Wild Animal Rehabilitators and Educators (AWARE), and Virginia Farm Bureau, the event will have a variety of activities as the event coincides with Earth Day. Activities include educational demonstrations, live animal demonstrations by AWARE rehabilitators, and a variety of booths with tips and tricks for helping the environment. Medical clinic recognized by the CDC

Angels of Mercy Medical Clinic, a local safety net clinic that services Charles City and New Kent, has been recognized by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as the first clinic in Virginia to identify evidence-based type 2 diabetes prevention program. The programs recognized by the CDC acknowledge that Angels of Mercy have met the high standards of the CDC.
