Young @ Heart opens in New Kent

Young @ Heart LLC, an assisted living facility, opened its doors to conduct business in New Kent in December 2015. Owned and operated by N. Laverne Young, RN, and Lloyd Young Jr., MSM, the facility seeks to provide adult residence service in New Kent. Young @ Heart, LLC was launched to provide exceptional care by assisting residents in maintaining their physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Mrs. Young has extensive experience in geriatrics nursing, while Mr. Young has decades of experience administering and managing behavioral health intervention services. Young Irelanders to perform for Arts Alive

The Young Irelanders will debut on Saturday, Apr. 30, 7 p.m. at the Robinson/Olsson Auditorium as part of the Arts Alive series. Sponsored by New Kent Junior Women’s Club, the show will consist of a variety of Irish traditional music, song, and dance. The performers have appeared on PBS specials as well as part of Michael Flatley’s Lord of the Dance. Tickets are $25 for adults, $20 for ages 65 and up, $10 for students, and $15/person in groups of 10 or more. Kindergarten registration is April 14

One of the biggest milestones in a child’s journey is starting school and being ready to succeed. On Thursday, April 14, Smart Beginnings Greater Richmond will hold its sixth annual Regional Kindergarten Campaign. Children who are five years old by Sept. 30 can start kindergarten this upcoming fall, but needs to register. Registration will be held at Charles City Elementary School, George Watkins Elementary School, and New Kent Elementary School.
