She was a member of Samaria Baptist Church where she served as an assistant Sunday school teacher and was active with the Women’s Missions. Olive was also a member of the Chickahominy Indian Tribe. Dr. Avis Donna Alexander departed this life on Nov. 30, 2020, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Donna led a life filled with accomplishment, beginning with her higher education at John Tyler Community College before continuing to complete her bachelor’s degree in English. She followed that with a master’s degree and Ph.D. in Psychology, earning them at Virginia Commonwealth University. Charles Mitchell Hammond Jr., known as Mitch, passed away suddenly and peacefully at his home in New Kent, Virginia, on Nov. 10, 2020. He was born on Mar. 14, 1937, the first of five children to the Rev. Charles Mitchell Hammond Sr. and Altha Hammond. Betty Abernathy Brime, born on Feb. 2, 1954, passed unexpectedly on Oct. 15, 2020.
