Anna Hill Davis, 85, of New Kent, VA, passed away March 31, 2018. She was born in Salem on Nov. 1, 1932, to the late Fred and Gertrude Hill. Anna graduated from Andrew Lewis High School and Roanoke Memorial School of Nursing. She received her nurse practitioner degree from the Medical College of Virginia. Her nursing career spanned 46 years and she exemplified the true meaning of a nurse. Anna enjoyed painting, playing bridge, collecting recipes and cookbooks. Janet Weymouth Whitlow, of Quinton, VA, received her angel wings on Mar. 23, 2018, defeating cancer and going to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was born on July 11, 1964. She was a loving Christian wife, mother, and daughter. Janet’s father started Chesterfield Insurers Inc. in 1960, a company specializing in writing insurance polices for many volunteer fire and rescue squads and organizations within the state of Virginia and eastern North Carolina. Stacy Shiflett, 50, of New Kent, VA, passed away Mar. 22, 2018. He is survived by his wife, Tricia B. Shiflett; his children, Caleb, Maddie, and Tyler Shiflett; parents, James and Lottie Shiflett; brother, Dennis Shiflett; father and mother-in-law, Don and Frances Bradley; and brother and sister-in-law, Kevin and Megan Bradley. A memorial service was held on Tuesday, Mar. 27, 5 p.m., at Corinth Baptist Church, 11650 New Kent Highway. The family received friends after the service at the church. Margaret Lawson Mills, 92, of New Kent, passed away with her family by her side on March 11, 2018. Margaret loved spending time with her family and was especially well-known for her delicious homemade pies. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Edward “Buster” Mills. Patricia Gale Gammon, 49, unexpectedly left this earth on Thursday, Mar. 1, 2018. She was born on Dec. 16, 1968 and resided in Providence Forge. Patricia was preceded in death by her father, Donald Wayne Gammon Sr. She leaves behind a son, Jason D. Waitman Jr. (Katelynn); mother, Sue D. Gammon; two brothers, Donald W. Michael Ray Carpenter, 73, formerly of Oklahoma, passed away on Thursday, Mar. 1, 2018, after losing his battle with lung cancer. Michael enjoyed hunting, fishing, flying, and anything that was a new adventure for him. Robert D. Kardian (Bob), 69, passed to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 12, 2018. He resided in Providence Forge, VA, for the past 13 years. Bob was born on Feb. 6, 1949 in Richmond, VA. He attended Benedictine High School in Richmond and Virginia Military Institute via a basketball scholarship. Bob joined the U.S. Army in 1969 and was stationed in Germany where he carried atomic warheads while protecting the German borders. Patricia Ann Kent, 85, died peacefully at home in Murrells Inlet, SC, on Jan. 2, 2018. She was born July 11, 1932 to Alfred and Marguerite F. Kent in Denver, CO. While attended UNC-Chapel Hill, she met and married Hoytt P. Griggs in 1954, who preceded her in death in 1969. She later married Claude Williams, who also preceded her in death.
