Richard Shirley “Dick” Ellyson, 78, of New Kent, passed away February 25, 2016. He was an accountant for Reynold’s Metals and was also an Army veteran. He was a member of Providence United Methodist Church, New Kent Ruritan Club, and Colonial Heights Senior Golf Association. He served for three terms on the New Kent Board of Supervisors, was the interim country treasurer and interim county administrator. He was also a member of the Richmond Regional Planning Commission. Curtis E. Wynn, 78, departed this earth on February 6, 2016. He was born on March 12, 1937. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Geraldine Holman Wynn; his parents, Curtis J. and Delia Canaday Wynn, Graham and Maggie Bradby Adkins; brothers, Leonard Adkins, Esswood, Reinwood, Weswood (Chuck), and James Wynn; sisters, Mabel Holmes, Mattie Adkins, Olive Heloisky, and Ora Houston. Bettye Kate “Katie” Jones, of Lanexa, VA, passed away on January 30, 2016. Katie worked many years at Eastern State Hospital in their garden craft therapy department. She bred golden retrievers for many families. She is survived by close friends, Robert and Ruth Jones of Greensboro, NC; Carol Adams of Reedsville, NC; Andy and Ann Bradshaw, Barbara Cooke, Connie Holland, and many friends she met through her dogs. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 5, at Tabernacle United Methodist Church Cemetery, 20051 Tabernacle Road, Barhamsville, VA, 23011. H. Nick Waitman, 84, passed away on January 21, 2016. He was born on July 6, 1931 and was a long time resident of Charles City, VA. He served in the United State Marine Corp and earned degrees from Randolph Macon College and the College of William & Mary. Nick had a career in administration as the director of personnel at Virginia’s Department of Education. He spent many of his retirement years serving on the Charles City County School Board.
