New Kent dominates Middlesex to return to win column

Behind a first half hat trick, New Kent’s boys’ soccer team returned to the win column Monday night. New Kent’s Diego Jimenez notched three goals in the first half, while teammates Mason Phaup and Grayson Yates each added a pair of their own as the Trojans coasted to a 10-2 non-district victory over the visiting Middlesex Chargers. Less than seven minutes into the contest, Phaup put the hosts on the scoreboard for an early advantage.   • Quinton woman receives six-month term for third DWI conviction

    A Quinton woman will spend six months in jail after receiving formal sentencing Monday afternoon in New Kent Circuit Court. Kasey Dale Hartsoe, 34, of the 10000 block of Continental Road, received her term of incarceration for driving while intoxicated (third or subsequent offense) on July 17, 2025. During a Jan. 12 trial, Hartsoe entered into a plea agreement and pled guilty to the aforementioned charge.     After falling behind 6-1 early in their Apr. 28 contest against the visiting West Point Lady Pointers, Chrles City’s Lady Panthers would be tested to see if they could battle back from adversity.
